May 22, 2026"Tucked away behind Farmlands in Te Puna (next to the liquor store), Red Coal Indian Restaurant is a true hidden gem. I had the pleasure of meeting Chef Vishal and his lovely wife, Rekha. Vishal is a professionally trained chef who specialises in authentic Indian cuisine—and it shows. With over 150 dishes to choose from, the menu is incredible. I highly recommend the lamb saag Wala—rich, flavourful, and beautifully cooked. As someone born in India, I can confidently say this is the real deal. Whether you're after lunch, dinner, or takeaway, Red Coal is my go-to when I’m craving a genuine taste of home."
